Pet dogs thrive when all is well with them. Unhappy pet dogs are those that are caged and tethered, with no way of being able to handle their hygiene. Dogs can't stand being in the middle of its dirt and pee. They'll hold out as long as they can, but it can only be for just awhile. Pet owners who have resorted to crate training still have the chore of keeping a pet dog's crate spic and span. Having a pet dog wallow in their mess or inhale their pee can affect a pet's health. Having a pet dog indoors is not much of a hassle, it takes patience and affection that can keep your pet dog happy and bright eyed.

Prevent sickness and and the spread of bacteria by providing your pet dog with sterile or easily cleaned food bowls, preferable metal. Plastic bowls may cause allergies in your pet dog. Plastic is not easily cleaned, numerous washings may get rid of the oily feeling but the food's odor still lingers. Gastro-intestinal complaints seem higher most often caused by improper cleaning of your pet dog. Tying to be thrifty by letting your pet combin e its dish bowl and its drinking in one bowl will only cost you more at the vet.

A lot of pet sickness can strike your pet dog, a percentage of these can come from your pets oral hygiene. Pet dogs get tartar along the gum line and cause inflamed gums that may be the source of their distress. Swelling of the gum and tooth may show in your pet's facial swelling. If the swelling of in your pet's mouth worsens, infection can spread to the blood causing complications in the heart and liver.

Some outward symptoms may not be caused by allergies or dog colds. Sneezing and discharges from the nose can be due to an infection in the upper canine which can lead to an opening between the mouth and the nasal cavity (oronasal fistula).

A pet's hygiene is as important as its food intake. Hygiene in a dog's surroundings, its eating habits and its oral care is important for a pet dog's proper growth and development. A responsible pet owner must realize that pet owning is never skin deep.
