Various Methods

Installing any Electric Dog Fence can be done using either the Above ground method, In ground method or the Wireless method.

1. Above ground electrical fences may be installed by use of ground staples. Wiring is pushed to the ground and must be embedded to prevent snagging it or tripping on it.

Above ground method is used when a fixed structure define the boundary, like and existing tall fence that your pet always attempt to dig out of or try to climb. Installing it in a way that would deter both digging out and jumping at the wall can be done by professional installers. Above ground installation are easier to trouble shoot and the area can easily be adjusted with just a little splicing and connecting.

2. An In ground method of installation calls for digging to hide the wires. It takes more effort to be able to dig then cover the wires, do-it-yourself in ground wiring calls for extra help from another person. Installing an in ground electronic dog fence could also be done by professional installers, they have training and experience in doing this. It would be so much trouble to be digging the wires because of improper installations.

In both Above and in ground fence installations, several lay outs may be used:

Perimeter/ Total Lay out

This type of lay out calls for a continuous current surrounding your front and back of your home. This is common for homes that have a large area but have two sides of their lawn by side walks. With this lay out 10 ft. from the side walk may be your pet's warning zone.

Hourglass Lay out

The wiring covers the front and boundaries are set and tapered at the sides and then continues at the back. This type of lay out enables you to keep track of your pet, by making only the front and back part of your home his 'let-loose'boundary.

Double Loop

This lay out is when pet boundary is set at the back of your home. This fits neighborhoods where most are scared to encounter an untethered dog on your front lawn it this lay out also protects your pet from ignorant people.

To choose the lay out, you must decide what is a safe boundary for your pet. If always he goes into the bush at the right it is better to reinforce the boundary on that side.

The last electric fence installation method doesn't need an out door set up. You'll need to properly set-up a lay out according to the off-zones you'd like to establish.. Another method is the wireless method. All you need to install is the mounted transceiver. The process has the same safety procedures to follow in choosing the right place inside your home to put the transceiver. An advantage though of a wireless type is that it is portable and can be used while on the road and during the holiday trip.

Methods of installation depend more on your requirements as a pet owner and as a homeowner. When working with professional installers, be sure to specify what you have in mind. They have certificates and training to make installations glitch free, according to your spec's and more, they are even certified dog trainers for boundary recognition.
